If you are considering placing your bird with an avian rescue/placement or adoption organization, adopting a bird or donating to an avian rescue organization read the following:
The main thing that you need to be aware of is that there are hoarders out there. That is people that take in but never adopt out. They usually get to the point that they can no longer take care of them and the humane society has to step in and place them. This type of person exists in all pet rescues be it bird, dog, or cat.
Beware of them if they do not want you to see their place. Even if they operate out of their own home they should be more than willing to allow you to bring the bird to them and also allow you to change your mind at that time. (It’s your bird until you place it in their care.)
For your own peace of mind you need to be comfortable with the person or persons you talk to.
Just be careful.
